Kamalamulu Nita Baadina (కమలములు నీట బాడిన)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
కమలములు నీట బాడినఁ
గమలాప్తునిరశ్మిసోకి కమలిన భంగిన్
శమ తమ నెలవులు దప్పినఁ
దమ మిత్రులు శత్రులౌట తథ్యము సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
కమలములు తమ స్థానమగు నీటిని వదిలిన యెడల తమకు మిత్రుడగు సూర్యుని వేఁడిచేతనే వాడిపోవును.అట్లే ఎవరుగాని తమ తమ యునికిపట్లు విడిచినచో తమ స్నేహితులే విరోధులగుట తప్పదు.

Gamalaapthunirashmisoki kamalina bhamgin
Shama thama nelavulu dhappinaao
Dhama mithrulu shathrulauta thathyamu sumathi.

Meaning:
Lotus when in water blossoms when the Sun comes out, but once out of water, they get withered away by the heat of the Sun. Thus, when a person leaves a place where he belongs to, even his friends turn foes
