Sarasamu Virasamu Korrake (సరసము విరసము కొఱకే)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
సరసము విరసము కొఱకే
పరిపూర్ణ సుఖంబు లదిక భాదల కొరహే
పెరుగుట విరుగుట కొఱకే
ధర తగ్గుట హెచ్చు కొఱకే తథ్యము సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
హాస్యము లాడుట విరోధ ము గల్గుటకు,మిక్కిలి సౌఖ్యములనుభవించుట పెక్కు కష్టముల నొందుటకుతిన్నగా పెరుగుట విరుగుట కొఱకు, ధర తగ్గుట యధికమగుటకు-నిజమగు కారణము లగును.

Paripurna sukhambu ladhika bhaadhala korahe
Peruguta viruguta korake
Dhara thagguta hechchu korake thathyamu sumathi.

Meaning:
Subjecting too much of jokes is to invite enmity, too much of comfort will be leading to problems, excess growth will lead to abatement, and prices fall low ultimately to rise again.
