గొప్ప దైవమా త్యాగరాజ నుత (చిన్న)
Variations
2నన్ను – నిన్ను : The words ‘పాలను సేతును’ (I shall protect) are that of Lord. The word ‘ఎంతో’ is not that of Lord. If the word ‘ఎంతో’ is not there, ‘నిన్ను’ could be added to the words of Lord ‘నిన్ను పాలనము సేతును’ (I shall protect You) – accordingly, ‘నిన్ను’ could be correct. However, as ‘ఎంతో’ is present, it (ఎంతో) has to be added to ‘నన్ను’. Therefore, ‘నిన్ను’ may not be appropriate. Such problems arise in many Kritis because Sri Tyagaraja mixes direct and indirect speech freely.
4ఏలుకొందామని – ఏలుకొందుమని. It is an ‘either – or’ situation. ‘ఎంచినావో’ is common for both situtations – ‘విడనాడుదామని ఎంచినావో – ఏలుకొందామని ఎంచినావో’; However, Sri Tyagraja has shortened the first option as ‘విడనాడుదామనో’. Accordingly, ‘ఏలుకొందామని’ is appropriate.

Isn’t it that You held my hand even in my child-hood?
Anupallavi
Accepting my numerous services, isn’t it that You held my hand even my child-hood assuring me much that ‘I shall look after’?
Charanam
However, at this moment, I do not know what You have decided – whether to abandon or govern me; please protect my honour, O Ocean of virtues! O Excellent Lord! O Lord Praised by this Tyagaraja! isn’t it that You held my hand even my child-hood?
