About The Temple :

Sri Anandapurath Mahavishnu temple is one of the oldest temples situated in the ‘Desam’ gramam, which is in the northern side of the river Periyar in Aluva Taluk, the Industrial capital of Kerala. The temple has about thousand years of back history. Astrologically it is believed that the main diety of the temple was installed by the Lord Parasuram himself. The temple had a golden past. Immense of wealth, in gold and land, were in possession. The ownership of the temple was in the hands of a Namboodiri lllam called Cherumukku Mana. Besides the main diety of Maha Vishnu, the temple has Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappa, Godess Naga Yakshi as upadevas.

Annually utsavam is being celebrated between Makaram 1 to 8. During that period rituals and ceremonies are taking place. Celebrations are also taking place. Other important dates of the temple are “Sree Krishna Jayanthi”, Mandala Vrutham of 41 days, Ramayana Masacharanam, Ayyappan Vilakku etc. During 2004 ‘Dhwaja prathishta’ were also done. Now the temple has grown up to a Maha temple of Lord Vishnu. People of this locality are very proud of having this great temple in this region. Lot of devotees are coming every day to this temple for their worship.
