Pallavi

Why wouldn’t it truly occur to people that attaining Your grace is indeed the real fortune?

Anupallavi

O Embodiment of Nada! O Lord resembling the rain-cloud! O Adornment of the Solar – Lord of Day – dynasty! O Lord who is soft spoken!

Charanams

1. Every-day (a) being entangled by wife and children who have no discrimination, (b) having become fatigued due to fear of not being able to swim the Ocean of Worldly Existence, (c) languishing due to tiredness of not deriving any comfort by waiting on the Kings – Lords of Earth, (d) even after knowing that these troubles have come about for self who is caught in the varied nature of Your delusion, why wouldn’t it truly occur to people that attaining Your grace is indeed the real fortune?

2. Getting up early, (a) one self roaming behind very miserly persons and thus having become sick, (b) the body having become emaciated by not abandoning what one desired, (c) having no recourse even after wandering after other celestials and Brahmins for the sake of enjoyments and wealth, why wouldn’t it truly occur to people that attaining Your grace is indeed the real fortune, by himself understanding in his mind that these comforts are of this nature only ?

3. O Lord reclining on Sesha – the Lord of serpents! O Lord who has Moon and Sun – Lord of the Day – as eyes! O Lord in whose lap Sita is seated! O Lord whose Lotus feet are worshipped by ascetics! O Refuge of all! O faultless One! (OR O Refuge of faultless people!) O Lord wearing the appellation of being the One who protects by destroying the (six internal enemies) desire, coveteousness, arrogance etc! O Lord Raghunayaka worshipped by this Tyagaraja! O Lord who without doubt discernible as the one who carries across the Ocean of Worldly Existence! why wouldn’t it truly occur to people that attaining Your grace is indeed the real fortune?
