Roopimchi Paliki Bokaku (రూపించి పలికి బొకకు)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
రూపించి పలికి బొకకు,
ప్రాపగు చుట్టంబు కెగ్గు పలుకకు మదిలో
గోపించు రాజుఁ గొల్వకు
పాపపు దేశంబు సొరకు,పదిలము సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
రూఢి చేసి మాట్లాడినతరువాత అబద్దమాడకుము.సహాయముగా నుండు బంధువులకు కీడు చేయకుము.కోపించే రాజును సేవింపకుము.పాపాత్ములుండెడి దేశమునకు వెళ్ళకుము.

Roopimchi paliki bokaku,
Praapagu chuttambu keggu palukaku madhilo
Gopimchu raajuao golvaku
Paapapu dheshambu soraku,padhilamu sumathi.

Meaning:
Do not take back the words or lie once spoken with conviction, do not back bite friends/relatives who stand by for help, do not serve a master who reproaches without reason and do not go to a place with sinful people.
