General Information:

It is noteworthy that Planet Sri Saneeswara worship is spreading now-a-days. It should be noted that the planet punishes only those doing wrong and not the just. It is not necessary that you have to use oil and dhil gram (Ellu in Tamil) to please him and follow other ritual to place your appeal to him but to pray to him sincerely. Symbolizing the simplicity and the mercy of the planet, the temple is built in a calm and serene environment here.

There are also shrines for the Uchishta Ganapathi, 11 feet tall Panchmukha Easwarar (Bhuvaneswarar), Bhuvaneswari, Gopalakrishnan, 18 feet tall Ashtadasbhuja Durga (Mother Durga with 18 hands), Panchamukha Anjaneyar, 8 feet tall Dandayuthapani with Vimanas – roof towers of the shrines. Every idol is large in size with exquisite sculptural beauty.

Prayers:

Devotees pray for relief from adverse aspects of Saturn.

Thanks giving:

Devotees light lamps of dhil gram in the shrine.

Greatness Of Temple:

This is a prayer centre. The temple was built by His Holiness Brahammananda Swamigal. Devotees can pray calmly here. The Pranava Ganapathi at the entrance was found from a tank here believed to have been worshipped by Desingu Raja. The Vinayaka in the temple is Valampuri Vinayaka.

Temple History:

It is a known fact that one leg of Planet Saneeswara is impaired. Ravana wished that his son should have a longevity that never ends and that death should not come to him. He performed such penance of intensity to gain this boon for his son. Already planets were under the control of Ravana. Saturn could not cast his aspect on the child. Devas were afraid. Maharshi Narada told Saneeswara to do his best to cast his look on the child and the planet did it successfully sooner the child-Indrajit was born. Frustrated Ravana broke the planet’s leg. He became lame. Hence the idol is made with the planet’s leg on the crow – his vehicle- to cover up this disability.
