About The Temple :

Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi Temple’. The temple is surrounded by paddy fields on its three sides and uphill to the east with a lot of open space giving immense peace to the mind, amazing views to the eyes, fresh air to the body and perfect satisfaction to the wishes of the devotees. Tthis temple is located centrally to pandalam , pathanamthitta and adoor in a village called thattayil . this temple is famous for the kettukazhcha which is conducted in the “meena masam” and the festival is known as “meena bharani”.

Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi Temple represents the whole thattayil dhesham which is comprising of seven “karas” (regions) those are:-

1.Edamaly
2.Parakkara
3.Mallika
4.Bhagavathikkum padinjaru
5.Vayalinum padinjaru
6.Padukkottukkal and
7. Pongaladi .

Earlier there was one more area under this temple known as Perumpulickal. This temple village is the first village united the nair community under the Mannathu padmanabhan and therefore having the first N.S.S karayogam(community of nairs) located in this thattayil village.

Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi Temple unites the people of 7 Karas (Wards) together. A lot of Devotees visit this temple every day. This temple has historic ‘Kettu Kazhcha’ (Theru (Chariotes) and Kaala (Bulls)) built on woods in the Month of March-April (during Meena Bharani). Kettu kazhcha is the symbol of unity….

Irrespective of religion and cast every one participates the uthsav. Thattayil Orippurathu Bhagavathi Temple is booked for marriages for years as this has facilities of 3 to 4 marriages on the same day (including ‘Sadya’). Special occasions are: ‘Meena Bharani’ (birth day of Devi) with Kettu kazhcha ‘Karthika’ – Nercha Thookams (kids are blessed) ‘Thiruvathira’ – With dance or drama events ‘Sapthaham’ – 7 days Bhagavatha parayanam,poojas and afternoon meals for each devotee conducted by 7 Karas (1 Kara each day) during malayalam month Vrichikam. ‘Navarathri’ – 9 days special programs by known musicians and Ballet troups.

Orippuram Devi Temple is a source of my inspiration for everything in my life. Orippurathu Devi is my mother , my eternal divine mother who sustains me throughout my life.

The entire area of Thatta has been magnificently blessed with the boons and blessings of this Devi Maha Maya whose very holy thoughts fills our hearts with joy and divinity which will surely take us to the sublime worlds of spirituality.
