Naduvakumee Theruvokkata (నడవకుమీ తెరువొక్కుట)

Composer: Baddena Bhupaludu (AD 1220-1280). He was also known as Bhadra Bhupala. C.P. Brown. He was a Chola prince and was a Vassal under the Kakatiya empress Rani Rudrama Devi during the thirteenth century. He was a pupil of Tikkana, the greatest writer in Telugu. If we assume that the Sumatee Satakam was indeed written by Baddena, it would rank as one of the earliest Satakams in TeluguMore...

పద్యం:
నడవకుమీ తెరువొక్కుటఁ
గడువకుమీ శత్రునింట గూరిమితోడన్
ముడువకుమీ పరదనముల
నుడువకుమీ యొరుల మనసు నొవ్వగ సుమతీ.

తాత్పర్యం:
మార్గమునందు యొంటరిగా నడువకుము,పగవాని ఇంటియందు స్నేహముగా భుజింపకుము,ఇతరుల దనమును మూటగట్టకుము,ఇతరుల మనస్సు నొచ్చునట్లు మాటలాడకుము.

Naduvakumee teruvokkata,
guduvakumee satru nimta goorimi todan,
muduvakumee paradhanamula,
nuduvakumee yorula manasu novvaga sumatee

Meaning:
Do not – take up a lonely journey (one might need help in the way), have a friendly meal at an enemy’s place (there is always a risk of revenge), count and bundle up someone else’s money (you might be called a thief unreasonably) and hurt others with your words
