Swayambhu Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy Temple of Gudeballore is Historical one. Previously this village was known as “Gundilapuram” Lord Venkateshwara Swamy along with Lakshmi Devi came to this hill to fulfill the desire of Mandavya Maharshi. Long back this area was called as Gundilaranya. Once Mandvya Maharshi is going to Tirupathi for Participate in Brahmotsavas, when he reached to Krishna River, it was flowing fully and he received a message from the God to stop at Gundilaranya and these only God will come to him, and went for Tapas for 8 Months, then he got the mercy of Land Venkateshwara, and during the period of Tapas the cowboys has given the cow milk for Maharshi as food so here the all types of Pujas will be done by that particular family who called as Golla. Every year in Chaitra Masa Brahmotsavas will be conducted for 15 days (from Chaitra Padyami to Pournima). Lakhs of People come from surrounding areas and participate in these festivals, especially from Karnataka, Maharashtra and many people will come to Brahmotsavas. Pilgrims from surrounding villages participate with agricultural implements and bullocks, carts. The devotees feel that because of the God, this area is covered with good crops and protected from natural calamities.

2) National Importance

The tourists flow from Karnataka is very high as this destination is located on the border of Karnataka. The residents of Raichur and surrounded places of Karnataka visit this temple very frequently and trusts Lord Venkateswara Swamy. During Brahmotsavas and other festivals, pilgrims from Maharashtra visit this temple in general.

3) Location and Reach

Road: Gudeballore village is located on Hyderabad-Raichur Highway, which is 14 Km away from Makthal and 4 km away for Krishna River. Gudeballore is the biggest Grama Panchayat of Maganoor Mandal. Pilgrims can get down at Gudeballore on Hyderabad-Raichur Highway and the temple (destination) is ½ km from the main road. The destination is located about 80 km from Mahabubnagar and 20 km from Raichur.

Rail: The nearest Railway Station is at Krishna, which is 6 km from the destination.

Air: The nearest Airport is located at Shamshabad (Hyderabad)

4) Jurisdiction of the Destination

The destination is under the jurisdiction and control of Endowments Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

5) Road Condition

The Hyderabad-Raichur Highway is laid down with BT Road with double road and the condition of the road is good. Metal road is available from the highway to the destination, which is about ½ km with good condition.

Destination

The flow of visitors to the destination has been increasing every year. As per the local people and officials of destinations, the visitors’ flow during the three years is as below:

It found that more than 150 people per day on an average are visiting the temple and the number goes up to 1,000 persons on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays. The visitors flow during Festival Days goes more than 2,000 per day on an average. During Sravana Masam, the pilgrims flow is high and it crosses 2,500 per day for a period of 30 days. The temple authority celebrates Brahmotsavas at the temple for a period of 9 days and during these days, the tourist flow is about 10,000 per day on an average. The destination is famous for performing marriages and tonsure ceremonies at a large scale as pilgrims trusts Lord Venkateswara and they cannot go to Tirupati, which is located far away from this place. It estimated that more than 300 marriages per annum & more than 10,000 tonsures ceremonies were performed at the destination and about 500 persons attend to each of the marriages & more than 20 people attend to each of the ceremonies at the destination. It is also found that the temple authority perform about 15-20 marriages in one day on a good sacred day. In addition, the temple authority celebrates Purandesula Aradhana Utsavas for a period of 3 days in every year and more than 10,000 pilgrims per day attend for the same. The temple authority celebrates Uddala Utsavas at the destination once in three years for a period of 15 days and thousands of pilgrims attend to this Utsavas.

Justification for Tourist Flow

The logic behind the estimation of future visitors’ flow is that there is huge potential to attract the visitors. The rationale is as follows.

Ø The management of the temple is keen to develop the temple in recent than earlier and planning to create awareness about the destination

Ø Income levels of surrounding places have been increasing

Ø On festivals, brahmotsav days, Saturdays, festival days, holidays, the pilgrims flow to the destination is very high

Ø The destination has historical importance

Ø Increasing number of Inter-State-tourists from Karnataka and neighbouring States of AP

Ø The average growth of visitors flow is increasing on an average of 15% – 20%. Apart from this, if the Tourism Department provides infrastructure and promotional facilitates to the tourists, that can add another 20% -30%.

It revealed from the field survey that the visitors prefer the following days in general.

Festival Days – Tourist flow is very high

Brahmotsav Days, Sravanamasam – Very huge tourist flow

Sundays and Public Holidays increase the flow to some extent

Special occasions like marriages, tonsure ceremonies at the temple

Vacations (like Summer Vacation and Winter Vacation)

9) Income Profile of Visitors

The approximate income profile of visitors to the destination is as below:

The destination is famous for performing marriages and performs highest marriages at the destination. The residents around the destination are belongs to al most lower income group, who generally visit the destination. Shakthi Nagar is located near to the destination and is having industrial estate. The middle-income group, who are residing in Shakti Nagar, visit this destination very frequently.

11) Purpose of Visit

Most of pilgrims visit the destination for devotional purpose only. They conduct special pujas especially on Saturday at SriLakshmiVenkateswaraSwamyTemple and pujas & vrathams regularly.

The approximate percentage of tourists and places from where the tourists visited the destination are as follows.

13) Mode of Transport

Due to more convenience of bus journey as it is located Hyderabad-Raichur Highway, majority of the pilgrims visit by buses who come from long distances as well as surrounded villages/mandals especially middle & lower income group. Some of the visitors also visit this destination through 4-wheelers (car, jeep), tourist buses, etc as a group. Generally, devotees from Bangalore and other parts of KarnatakaState visit this destination through tourist buses in general.

14) Frequency of Visits

It found that 30% of the visitors are new persons and visited the destination first time after knowing the importance of the destination. About 70% of the pilgrims have been repeating the visit to the destination at least once in a year friends and relatives.

15) Group Size

The visitors have been coming to the destination along with their family members and relatives & friends as a group. The group size consists of 4 to 10 persons in general. The approximate group size consists of 10 -15 persons by 4-wheeler (jeep); 30-60 persons by tourist buses; 20-30 persons by tractors. The group size of marriages is ranging from 300 to 800 persons per marriage.

16) Accommodation Facilities

There are no accommodation facilities exist at the destination. The accommodation facilities are available at Shakthi Nagar, which is 6 km away; Makthal – 18 km away; and at Raichur – 20 km away. The tourists can stay either at Makthal or Shakti Nagar as per their convenience.

17) Food & Beverages Facilities

Food facilities are not available at the destination. These facilities are available on the highway, which ½ km away from the destination, where food, beverages, snacks, etc available. About six tea bunks available at the highway and these provide tiffin, tea/coffee, biscuits, snacks, etc to the pilgrims. Good hotels with accommodation facilities are available at Makthal or Shakthi Nagar.

Some of the pilgrims bring food from their homes along with them. Some of the pilgrims also prepare/cook food at the destination and the temple authority gives utensils for rent for cooking food by charging nominal rent.

18) Illumination Facilities

Illumination facilities are available only inside the temple. Illumination facilities are not available outside the temple premises.

19) Sewerage and Public

Toilets

There is no proper drainage system exist for the temple as it is constructed very long back. No urinal/public toilet block is available at the destination.

20) Water Facilities

The temple is having one bore well and supplying the drinking water to the pilgrims from the bore well.

21) Banking/ATM Facilities

A P Grameena Vikas Bank is located at Gudeballore. A good number of nationalized banks are located in Makthal or Shakthi Nagar.

22) Emergency Health Facility

There are 8 RMP doctors and one medical shop available at Gudaballore. Maganoor is having one PHC. Shakthi Nagar is having a good number of private hospitals, medical shops, diagnostic centres, specialist doctors, government hospital, etc.

23) Cleanness

The authority is maintaining cleanness inside the temple and not maintaining outside premises of the temple.

24) Landscaping and Park Maintenance

The management is not maintaining any landscaping surrounding the temple. There is a very good scope for landscaping and is very much needed. There are also no proper sitting facilities with good landscaping.

25) Safety/Security of Tourists

The temple authority appointed priest and watchmen. The personnel are safeguarding/ guiding the tourists on safety measures. Police Station is available at KrishnaVillage. There are no threats and robberies at the destination.

26) Guide Services

There are no guide services available at the destination. The priest and security personnel explain about the history and importance of the temple.

27) Wayside Amenities

Availability of support services like puncture, air, petrol, etc available in the village. One petrol pump is available at 2 km away from the destination. Pilgrims can avail minor repairs on the highway road, which is ½ km away from the destination.

28) Communication Facilities

It noticed that almost all mobile phones (Reliance, BSNL, Airtel) receive signals at the destination. Coin operated PCO boxes are not available at the destination but 10 PCO Boxes available on the Hyderabad-Raichur Highway for public on pay and use basis.

29) Marketing Facilities (Information Centre, Destination Boards, Direction Boards, etc)

The temple authority prints pamphlets on occasion of Brahmotsav and distributes to the important persons and also distributes among the pilgrims. The temple authority has not established any destination/ direction boards. One arch is constructed at Hyderabad-Raichur Highway by the authority.

30) Shopping Facilities

No shopping facilities are available at the destination and only puja items are available at the temple. Visitors can do shopping either at Makthal or Shakthi Nagar, where all type of shopping facilities available.

31) Local Transport

A good number of sharing autos are available from all corners (Makthal, Krishna and Shakthi Nagar) to the destination.

32) Parking Facilities

At present, no provision of land for parking of vehicles is allotted even though there is plenty of land available at the destination. Visitors are parking their vehicles in front of the temple on the road as per their convenience.

33) Other Facilities

Bajans have been organizing by the temple authority on every Saturday, every Amavasya and on all festival days. The authority performs marriages very frequently in the Kalyana Mandapam. Lower and middle income group people perform marriages in the temple.
Megalit Burials, Mudmal (V), Maganoor (M)

1) Importance of the Destinations

MEGALITHIC BURIALS Nearly 500 and above Burials are located. Here two types of Burials we can see:

1) Sisth: Which are souromded with Big rocks

2) Menhers: In the Middle A Circle of stones. One big piller holl be stand.

Nearly 65 Menhers we can see in this site. Nearly 100 acres area is covered with this Burials. This Burials are belongs to Magalitlic Period Place an are on the Bank of Krishna River at Mudmal Village of Maganoor Mandal in Mahabubnagar District.

This site located in between 3 Villages viz., Muduma, Murahari Doddi, Gudeballore. The height of Menhers is 14-16 feet, and area 6-11 feet. Some biggest ground, Big bull, Female Goddess Trishula weapon are there. We also see this sisth burials on the bank of Krishna to Sangam Area, Tangidi village also. This is very biggest burial ground in this area.

2) National Importance

Some of the pilgrims/visitors, who visit SriYadavendraSwamyTemple also visit this place on hearing from somebody about the importance of this burials. The tourists from Karnataka and Maharashtra are high to this destination. The visitors visit this destination especially from places viz., Hubli, Bangalore, Raichur, Shivnogga, Bellari from Karnataka; Chennai, Sriranga, etc from Tamil Nadu; and Pune, Mumbai, etc from Maharashtra.

Road: The tourists/visitors, who travel from Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh, can get down at Gudeballore on Raichur-Hyderabad Highway . The distance from Gudeballore to Mudmal is 5 km. The distance from Mudmal village to the destination is about 3 km. The tourists from Maharashtra can get down at Krishna RS, from there they have to travel to this destination via Gudeballore. The tourists from Tamil Nadu also get down at Krishna RS by Chennai-Mumbai Express.

Tourists can stay either at SriYadavendraSwamyTemple in the open shelters or at DeshmukhRoyalBuilding at free of cost.

17) Food & Beverages Facilities

Food facilities are not available at the burial ground for public. About 15 roadside hotels/bunks are available by providing tiffin, tea/coffee, biscuits, snacks, etc at MudmalVillage, which is about 3 km away from the destination.

No illumination facilities are available at the site (Megalit burial ground).

No urinal/public toilet block is available at the burial ground.

There are five RMP doctors available at Mudmal. There are no medical shops at Mudmal. One PHC’s Sub Centre is located at Gudeballore. MBBS Doctors, diagnostic centres, a number of medical shops, specialist doctors, private clinics, nursing homes, etc are available at Makthal or Raichur.

The authority is not maintaining any cleanness at the destination.

Coin operated PCO boxes are not available at the destination but available in the Mudmal village for public on pay & use basis.

Sri Yadavendra Swamy Temple, Mudmal (V), Maganoor (M)

1) Importance of the Destinations

Mudmal located 12 km from Gudeballore village Hyderabad-Raichur Highway. On the Bank of Krishna River, historical Math of Yadavendra Swamy, who was the contemporer of Raghavendra Swamy of Mantralayam, which belongs to Madhva Cult. Yadavendra Theertha Swamy was Principle disciple of Pudenda Swamy of Madhva cult and he left to North Indian tour at that time Sudhendra Theertha want to give the charge to his Uttaradhi Kari so Yadavendra Theertha was not available at that time. He selected Raghavendra Swamy and given the charge of Mathadhi Kari. After return of Yadavendra, Raghavendra offered the charge but Yadavendra not accepted that and left towards Mudumal village on the bank of Krishna river and did Tapas and Ended his life with ‘Sadhana’. Every year Aradhana Ustavas for one week and lakhs of people of Madhva cult come to Mudumal and offers their devotions to Swamiji. Now, we can see the “Brindavana” of Yadavendra Theertha Swamiji at MudumalVillage. It’s a beautiful location on the bank of KrishnaRiver. We also find a ShivaTemple of 4 dwaras. Four types people will visit lard Shiva, from East-Human beings from West Gods, from North Yakshas and from South Rakshsas will visit and pray the God. Yadavendra Swamy belongs to Raghavendra Swamy, so the devotees of Raghavendra Swamy visit this place very frequency.

We also find Hathiram Baba Math here ruined structure of Hathiram Math, which belongs to Tirupathi having one Mandir and place here Krishna River flows in angular Manner and looks very beautiful.

It found that more than 100 people per day on an average are visiting the temple and the number goes up to 300 persons on Thursday, Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays. The visitors flow on during Festival Days goes more than 1,000 per day on an average.

The authority celeberates Sankranthi Festival at the destination at a grand level for a period of 5 days and about 10,000 pilgrims per day attend this temple during those days. The flow of tourists to this destination is very high during Karthika Masam, Magha Masam and Public Holidays to school/college children. During these days, tourists come in the early morning and stay till evening. Bajan Sangams organise bajan at the destination for 3-5 days with a group size of 300-500 devotees. The pilgrims perform a good number of death ceremonies (about 8,000 per annum) in KrishnaRiver through out the year. On occasion of ‘Puskaralu’, about 5.00 lakh pilgrims attend at this destination once in 12 years.

Marriages, tonsure ceremonies and death ceremonies are performed at high rate and the flow of persons (no. of persons) to this temple for performing these kind of activities is also very high.

The approximate income profile of visitors to the destination is as below:

The villagers, who are residing around the destination are belongs to almost middle and lower income group, who generally visit the destination.

11) Purpose of Visit

Most of pilgrims visit the destination for devotional purpose (about 70%) only but some of the them also visit for relaxation purpose (about 30%). They conduct special pujas especially on Thursday, Saturdays and Sunday at the destination.

The approximate percentage of tourists and places from where the tourists visited the destination are as follows.

13) Mode of Transport

Due to more convenience to bus journey as it is located Hyderabad-Raichur Highway, majority of the pilgrims visit by buses who come from long distances as well as surrounded villages/mandals especially middle & lower income group. It is estimated that about 50% comes through buses, 20% by autos or shared autos; and the balance 30% by way of tourist buses, own vehicles, rail and other mode of transport.

14) Frequency of Visits

It found that 30% of the visitors are new persons and visited the destination first time after knowing the importance of the destination. About 60% of the pilgrims have been repeating the visit to the destination at least once in a year friends and relatives.

15) Group Size

The visitors have been coming to the destination along with their family members and relatives & friends as a group. The group size consists of 5 to 10 persons in general. The approximate group size consists of 10 -15 persons by 4-wheeler (jeep); 30-60 persons by tourist buses; 20-30 persons by tractors.

16) Accommodation Facilities

There are no good accommodation facilities exist at the destination. The pilgrims stay in the open shelters available at the temple at free of cost. In addition, very big buildings belongs to Deshmukh Royal, which is available and provided for stay purpose. No family members of Deshmukh Royal residing at present in this building. Pilgrims stay either at the temple in the open shelters or at DeshmukhRoyalBuilding at free of cost. Generally, pilgrims stay for 3 days.

17) Food & Beverages

Facilities

Food facilities are not available at the destination for general public. The management collects some amount of money and provides food arrangements. About 15 roadside hotels/bunks are available by providing tiffin, tea/coffee, biscuits, snacks, etc at Mudmal Village, which is about ½ km away from the destination. Some of the pilgrims bring food from their homes along with them.

18) Illumination Facilities

No illumination facilities are available either inside or outside the temple but light polls are available in front of the temple. Illumination facilities are very much needed here.

19) Sewerage and Public Toilets

There is no drainage system exist for the temple. No urinal/public toilet block is available at the destination.

The temple is having any bore well or supplying the drinking water to the pilgrims. The pilgrims have to drink water from KrishnaRiver directly and use the same for cooking also.

A P Grameena Vikas Bank is located at Mudmal at 15 km away from the destination. SBH, SBI, Andhra Banks available at Mudmal. SBH-ATM is available at Makthal, which is 25 km away from the destination.

22) Emergency Health Facility

There are five RMP doctors available at Mudmal. There are no medical shops at Mudmal. One PHC’s Sub Centre is located at Gudeballore, which is 8 km away from the destination. MBBS Doctors, diagnostic centres, a number of medical shops, specialist doctors, private clinics, nursing homes, etc are available at Makthal (25 km away) or Raichur (30 km away).

23) Cleanness

The authority is maintaining cleanness inside the temple to some extent and not maintaining outside premises of the temple.

24) Landscaping and Park Maintenance

The management is not maintaining any landscaping either inside or outside the temple. There is a very good scope for landscaping and very much needed as this temple is located on the shore of Krishna River. There are also no proper sitting facilities.

25) Safety/Security of Tourists

The temple authority appointed priest. The priest along with the villagers’ cooperation is safeguarding/guiding the tourists on safety measures. Police Station is available at Krishna. There are no threats and robberies occurred at the destination.

There is no tourist guide available at the destination. The priest explain about the history and importance of the temple.

27) Wayside Amenities

Availability of support services like puncture, air, petrol, etc available at Gudeballore Highway , which is 10 km away from the destination. Major repairs, car rentals, etc are available at Raichur.

It noticed that almost all mobile phones of KarnatakaState receive signals at the destination as this destination is located on the border of Karnataka-AP. Only mobile phones of BSNL, Reliance, Vodafone, Idea signals from Andhra Pradesh receive signals at the destination. Coin operated PCO boxes are not available at the destination but available in the village for public on pay & use basis.

29) Marketing Facilities (Information Centre, Destination Boards, Direction Boards, etc)

Sri Raghavendra Math, Mantralayam publishes pamphlets, brochures, etc on the occasion of Aradhana Utsavas organised by them and sends to the important persons and distributes among the pilgrims. The temple authority has not established any destination/direction boards.

30) Shopping Facilities

No shopping facilities available at the destination and only puja items will be sold at the temple. Visitors can do shopping either at Makthal or Shakthi Nagar, where all type of shopping facilities available.

A good number of sharing autos (30 vehicles0 are available from Gudeballore to Mudmal and operating every day.

Visitors are parking their vehicles in front of the temple as per their convenience.

Bajans have been organizing by the temple authority on the occasion of Utsavams, Ekadasi and on all festival days. Some visitors do practice meditation on themselves. It understood from the villagers that some organisations also conducting meditation classes in the middle of KrishnaRiver or beside the River very frequently. Marriages are organized very frequently in the Kalyana Mandapam. Lower and middle income group people perform marriages in the temple.
Sri Ksheera Lingeswara Temple, Krishna (V), Maganoor (M)

1) Importance of the Destinations

Krishna village is a pilgrim centre. This is the first village after the Sangam Kshetram of Krishna & Bhima Rivers. So all feels that the result of Sangam will get here. Many people from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh come here and completes their elders’ ceremonies and every day some hundreds of people perform ceremonies. The oldest railway bridge was constructed across the KrishnaRiver with Iron & Led by the Nizam Government and also located in KrishnaVillage. It was an Engineering Wonder and strongest Bridge till today.

Ksheera Lingeswara Matham is also one of the Greatest Landmark of this village. Swamy Ksheera Linga was the great devotee sacrificed his life and went for Samadhi here and he established ShivaTemple here. This Math is a faithful place for many people. In the Sankranthi season, the festivals of Temple will be performed every year. Nearly two lakhs people visit during festival (Jatara) period. On every Wednesday, local sandy is available in this village from past 100 years.

The destination has very good national importance. The flow of tourists is very high from Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The tourists flow from Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar district for performing death ceremonies is high. The pilgrims visit this destination especially from places viz., Raichur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Yadgir, Gangavath I, Sivamagga, Bellari, etc from Karnataka; and Sholapur, Pandaripur, Pune, Shabad, Wadi, Akalkot, Dudini, Chithapur, Sadem, etc from Maharashtra.

Road: The pilgrims, who travel from Karnataka can get down at Hindupur on Gulbarga-Raichur Highway. From Hindupur, the destination is about 2 km. The pilgrims, who travel from AP can get down at Maganoor/Makthal on Hyderabad-Raichur Highway .From Maganoor, the destination is about 13 km.

Rail: The nearest Railway Station is at Krishna, which is having Wadi-Guntakal Railway Line.

Air: The nearest Airport located at Shamshabad (Hyderabad), which is about 190 km from the destination.

It found that more than 100 people per day on an average are visiting the temple for performing death ceremonies of their parents and the number goes up to 300 persons on Sundays, and Public Holidays. The visitors flow on every Wednesday is very high due to local sandy and tourists from surrounded villages of Krishna and surrounded villages of Karnataka visit this destination. The tourists flow on every Wednesday is estimated more than 1,000 per day on an average throughout the year.

The Ganesh Nimajjanam is performed in the famous river on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th by the residents of surrounded Villages/Mandals of Krishna and Karnataka State and the tourists flow per day is expected around 10,000 on an average and on the 11th day, it crosses 25,000 of pilgrims. During Karthikamasam, pilgrims flow to the river/temple is very high and the number of tourist is estimated at 2,000 persons per day during normal days and it crosses more than 5,000 per day on Mondays of Karthikamasam. Mahalaya Amavasya is the main festival and is celebrated every year by the people to their blood related persons (parents, brothers, sisters, etc), who already died and people believes performing ceremony at this destination is good. More than 35,000 pilgrims performs death ceremony at the destination on Mahalaya Amavasya for one day. The temple authority celebrates Sivaratri festival well for a period of 5 days and the flow is more than 15,000 pilgrims per day on an average. The pilgrims visit the destination entire month of Sravanamasam and the number of visitors is estimated to be 5,000 pilgrims per day. The temple authority celebrates Sankranthi Utsavalu at grand level and about 20,000 visitors per day on an average visit this destination for a period of 8 days.

Bajan Sangams organise Bajans at the destination on all festival days and Mondays. In addition, they also arrange to play ‘Dramas’ and ‘Ballets’ at the destination. On the occasion of ‘Puskaralu’, some lakhs of pilgrims attend at this destination.

1) Importance of the Destinations

Sangam is a place of Mersing of Krishna & Bhima Rivers Located at the Border of Karnataka State. BhimaRiver merges with Krishna here. According to Guru Charitra (Dattatreya Charitra), this Mersing Point known as Nirvruthi Sangamam. This is very pure place (holistic) for the Hindus. The river Krishna and Bhima are having a special role in Hindu Culture. River Bhima flows hear to South side. This is equal to GangaRiver at Kashi, holi place at Gaya people will get the “Punya” when they bath at “Pushkara” and one more thing is Dattatreya Swamy moved on the bank of this river. So, it is very pure (holistic place) and having important role in Hindu Mythology.

This Sangamam is known as “NIVRUTI SANGAMAM”. According to Gurucharitra, Swamy Sreepada Vallabha incarnation of Dattatreya is place “KURUVAPURAM” is very near to this Sangamam. As this place having special importance and this Sangam is only the entry place of KrishnaRiver in to Andhra Pradesh so this Sangam having Important role.

In 1557-58, the King of Vijayanagara “Ramaraya” defeated Bahumam Sultans and adjusted a pact over Sultans of Kutubshahi, Adikshahi, Nizamshahi and Barid Shahi on the bank of this Sangamam. So, this place having the historical importance also.

13) Mode of Transport

Due to more convenience to bus journey as it is located Hyderabad-Raichur Highway majority of the pilgrims visit by buses who come from long distances as well as surrounded villages/mandals especially middle & lower income group. Pilgrims from Maharashtra and Karnataka visit this destination by train as the train facility to the destination is more convenient and Bombay-Chennai Main Route is linked through Krishna. From Krishna, the visitors visit by sharing autos. Some of the pilgrims also visit this destination through shared autos, tourist buses, own vehicles and other mode of transport.

14) Frequency of Visits

It found that 20% of the visitors are new persons and visited the destination first time after knowing the importance of the destination. About 80% of the pilgrims have been repeating the visit to the destination.

15) Group Size

The visitors have been coming to the destination along with their family members and relatives & friends as a group. The group size consists of 5 to 10 persons in general. The approximate group size consists of 10 -15 persons by 4-wheeler (jeep, car, sumo, etc); 30-60 persons by tourist buses; 20-30 persons by tractors.

16) Accommodation Facilities

No accommodation facilities are available at the destination but the pilgrims can stay at Makthal, where 6 lodges are available with 10 rooms each. At Makthal, a good number of meals and tiffin hotels are available.

17) Food & Beverages Facilities

Food facilities are not available at the destination place but in TangidiVillage, there are about 10 bunks available by providing tiffin, coffee/tea, snacks, biscuits, etc to the pilgrims.

18) Illumination Facilities

No illumination facilities are available along the River Bed, where pilgrims do bath in general. Illumination facilities are very much needed here.

19) Sewerage and Public Toilets

No urinal/public toilet block is available at the destination.

20) Water Facilities

There are no drinking water facilities available at the destination. The pilgrims are using river water as drinking water.

21) Banking/ATM Facilities

No bank available at Tangidi but Corporation Bank is available Krishna. SBH-ATM and some other nationalised banks are available at Makthal.

22) Emergency Health Facility

There is no emergency medical aid available at TangidiVillage but available at Krishna, which is 7 km away from the destination. Health Sub-Centre of PHC and Unani Medical Centre maintained by the Government of Andhra Pradesh are available at Krishna in addition to four RMP doctors and three medical shops. One PHC is available at Maganoor. MBBS Doctors, diagnostic centres, a number of medical shops, specialist doctors, private clinics, homes, etc are available at Makthal or Raichur.

23) Cleanness

The authority is not maintaining any cleanness along the river but rivers are flowing naturally as there are no tourist amenities to maintain cleanness.

24) Landscaping and Park Maintenance

The authority is not maintaining any landscaping.

25) Safety/Security of Tourists

The local people guide the tourists and provide safety measures. Police Station is available at Krishna. There are no threats and robberies occurred at the destination.

There are no wayside amenities at Tangidi but minor support services like puncture, air, petrol, etc are available at Krishna at a distance of 7 km away from the destination. Major repairs, car rentals, etc are available at Raichur and Shakthi Nagar of KarnatakaState.

It noticed that almost mobile phones of Reliance, Airtel, BSNL (Karnataka), Spice (Karnataka) receive signals at the destination as this destination is located on the border of Karnataka-AP. Coin operated PCO boxes are not available at the destination but 10 boxes available in the TangidiVillage, which is 1 km away from the destination for public on pay & use basis.

29) Marketing Facilities (Information Centre, Destination Boards, Direction Boards, etc)

The authority not published any pamphlets, brochures, etc. There are no destination/direction boards.

30) Shopping Facilities

No shopping facilities available at the destination place. Visitors can do shopping either at Krishna or Shakthi Nagar, where all type of shopping facilities available.

A good number of sharing autos (about 15 vehicles) are available from Krishna to the destination (Tangidi) and operating every day.

1) Importance of the Destinations

“NA GANGA, NA GAYA, KASHI NA VENI, NA CHA PUSHKARAM NA CHAPI KOURAVA KSHETRAM BHEEMA DAKSHINA VAHINI”. On the Dakshini Vahini Bheema, one can see at Andhra Pradesh for GKM only from Sukurlingampally to Sangam of Krishna Bhima Rivers. This Southern flowing Bhima is very pure and having special significance in Hindu Culture.

Swamy Krishna Dwaipayana Theertha belongs to Uttaradhi Math of Madhva Cult. He was disciple of Swamy Vedavya Sateertha. After taking Sanyasasrama, he moved to many places in the country. He was good scholar and studied vedas & puranas, having good command on Hindu Mythology. He got Vairagya on physical life and entered into philosophical life. He was principle disciple of his Guru. According to the order of God Swamy came to the Bank of Bhima River near to Kusumurthy Kshetra. He ended his life with “Sadhana” towards God and got Moksha.

Ruined Fort – Kalahalli

(Place of Pact Between Ramaraya and Bahumani Sultans)

The place of Krishna-Bhima Sangam not only pure/cultural important place. This place also having Historical Importance. The Ruined-Fort is very important place that in 1557-58 The king of Vijayanagara “RAMARAYA” Involves in the internal wars of Bahmani Sultans and captured Rayachur, Mudgal and Pangal Forts and he involved in the internal Wars of Sultans and Adjusted a pact betwing Kutubshahi, Adikshahi, Nizamshahi & Baridshahi. On the Bank of Krishna-Bhima Sangam. Tourists visit the ruined Forts in Tangidi, Gudeballore, Ainapur and other Border villages. According to the Elder people some parts of “Rakkisi-Tangidi” war also took place here.

2) National Importance

The destination has very good national importance. The tourists are coming from 10-15 districts of each State of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and other States. The tourists visit this destination from these States occasionally.

3) Location and Reach

Road: The pilgrims, who travel from Karnataka can get down at Hindupur on Gulbarga-Raichur Highway. From Hindupur, the destination is about 9 km. The pilgrims, who travel from AP can get down at Maganoor/Makthal on Hyderabad-Raichur Highway . From Maganoor, the tourists can reach the destination via Krishna.

Rail: The nearest Railway Station is at Krishna, which is having Wadi-Guntakal Railway Line.

Air: The nearest Airport located at Shamshabad (Hyderabad)

4) Jurisdiction of the Destination

The destination is under the control and belongs Uttaradhi Math of Madwa Tradition.

5) Road Condition

The road condition of Hyderabad-Raichur Highway is laid down with 60′ BT Road and the condition of the road is good. There is 12′ BT road available from Maganoor (NallagattuMaisammaTemple) to Kusumurthy Tangidi and the road condition is average. From Tangidi, there is a metal road to Kusumurthy and the road condition is average.

7) Visitors Flow at the Destination

The flow of visitors to the destination has been increasing every year. As per the local people and officials of destinations, the visitors’ flow during the three years is as below:

It found that more than 300 people per day on an average are visiting the temple and the number goes up to 500 persons on Sundays and Public Holidays. The temple authority celebrates Karuni Day for a period of 3 days at the temple during first week of June every year and the pilgrims flow to the destination is about 5,000 persons per day on an average.

During Karthika and Sravana Masams, pilgrims flow for river bath is very high and the number of visitors is estimated at 500 – 1,000 persons per day during those days. On the important festival days viz., Sivaratri, Ugadi, Sankranthi, Asweja Pournima & Chathurdasi, Vinayaka Chavithi, Dasara, etc, the tourists flow is more than 1,000 per day on an average.

The temple authority celebrates ‘Puskaralu’ for a period of 12 days every year and more than 10,000 pilgrims attend for river bath at this destination. Tonsure ceremonies are celebrated by the devotees to some extent at the destination.

Justification for Tourist Flow

The logic behind the estimation of future visitors’ flow is that there is huge potential to attract the visitors. The rationale is as follows.

Ø The pilgrims perform Holistic River Bath at the destination on large scale and is famous for the river bath

Ø Festivals viz., Karuni Day, Asweja Pournima & Chathurdasi, Ganesh Nimajjanam, Karthika Masam, Sravana Masam, Sivaratri, Sankranthi, etc celebrated at large and very huge tourist flow available at the destination on these days

Ø Awareness about this place is increasing day-by-day and this is resulted by telling/creating awareness by the visitors, who visited the destination

Ø Pleasant environment at the destination with the River

Ø Income levels of surrounding places have been increasing

Ø The destination has historical importance

Ø Increasing number of Inter-State-tourists from Karnataka, Maharashtra and neighbouring States of AP

Ø The average growth of visitors flow is increasing on an average of 10% – 15%. Apart from this, if the Tourism Department provides infrastructure and promotional facilitates to the tourists, that can add another 20% -30%.

It revealed from the field survey that the visitors prefer the following days in general.

Sundays and Public Holidays increase the flow to some extent

Special occasions like Karuni Day, Asweja Pournima & Chathurdasi, Puskaralu, Sankranthi, Ugadi, Vinayaka Chavithi, Sivaratri, Karthika & Sravana Masams, etc

Vacations (like Summer Vacation and Winter Vacation)

9) Income Profile of Visitors

The approximate income profile of visitors to the destination is as below:

Lower Income People : 25%

Middle Income People : 40%

Higher Income People : 35%

The residents, who are residing around the destination are belongs to almost middle and lower income group, who generally visit the destination. As the destination is Math and famous for Raghavendra Swamy, higher income group also visit this destination and have bath in the river.

11) Purpose of Visit

Most of pilgrims visit the destination for devotional purpose (about 90%) to do puja at the temple and for river bath but some of them also visit for relaxation & recreation purposes (about 10%) as picnic.

The approximate percentage of tourists and places from where the tourists visited the destination are as follows.

The authority constructed a big hall recently at the destination and it can accommodate more than 100 people. The authority is providing accommodation facilities at free of cost at present and pilgrims generally stay 2-3 days. If any body stays more than 10 days, they pay some amount of money for stay at the destination as donation.

There are no food and beverages facilities available at the destination. The authority arrange food for 1 or 2 persons for 1 or 2 times for one day only. If the visitors number is more than 2, then they have to make their own arrangements. Pilgrims are generally just coming and making darshan and returning their places in the evening as there are no amenities. But in TangidiVillage, there are about 10 bunks available by providing tiffin, coffee/tea, snacks, biscuits, etc to the pilgrims.
