Legends and Notes
– In his Koorma Avataram Vishnu is said to have worshipped Shiva, seeking the celestial nectar Amritam – hence the name Amrita Tyagar

– The name Kachur comes from the Kachaba (tortoise) form with which Vishnu worshipped Shiva

– The Ashwini twins are said to have worshipped Shiva to receive the knowledge of medicinal herbs, hence the name Marundeeswarar
