About The Temple :

According to scholars this place got its name Vattekkattu because Sree Ayyappan who came for hunting rested in this place. Sadha Siva Moorthi who is facing the west as the presiding deity, Vattekkattu Mahadeva temple is one of the very rare Siva temples in Kerala. The temple has the 1500 years antiquity. The ferocious Narasirnha Moorthy is also consecrated with same importance, facing the east. This temple situates on the banks of Karuvannur river in the southern border of Moorkanad village of Thrissur district. The sub deities are Sasthavu, Ganapathy and Thalassery Bhagavathy. This temple is famous because of a very special offering, known as ‘Naazhimpidi’ which is offered to fulfil the desires of devotees and to get return the lost things. The experiences of the devotees stand as a great testimony to this special offering. The temple also has another important offering of cucumber. This will eradicate all the skin diseases. The temple is owned by Vatteparambu mana. The Kshethra Acharya is famous thantric family Animangalam mana.
