Pallavi

Having got hold of my hand, it is not proper to leave it.

Anupallavi

Having constrained me with true devotion to You from the day I was born, and having protected my honour from being compromised, it is not proper to leave my hand having got hold of it.

Charanam

Having taught me what is eternal and what is evanescent, having made known to me what is to be done and what is not to be done, and having shown to me that each and every one (or thing) to be You alone, it is not proper to leave the hand of this Thyagaraja – a servant to You, having got hold of it.
